Over 1,400 Clean Energy Professionals Will Congregate in Chile for its Annual Renewable Energy Investments Conference
(PRWEB) October 4, 2010
The Chilean government has stepped up its initiatives to increase Chile’s reliance on non-conventional renewable energies by proposing to make renewable energy sources at least 20% of the nation’s energy supply by 2020. Correspondingly, industry investors and participants have taken notice, as a record number of attendees are expected at the 5th International Conference on Renewable Energy Investments, which will be featuring for the first time an exhibition hall displaying cutting edge industry technology.
The expected record number of participants comes as no surprise, given Chile’s abundant amount of natural resources, coupled with its dynamic and growing economy. Chile has ideal conditions for biomass, hydro-electric, wind, solar, geothermal, and wave energy sources. Moreover, in the World Economic Forum’s recent global competitiveness rankings, Chile ranked number one in Latin America and 30th globally in competitiveness. Through its competitiveness and transparency, Chile is expected to be the 2nd fastest growing economy in Latin America in 2011.
In order to further develop the renewable energy sector, the government has put in place numerous incentives and subsidies for investors and businesses seeking to establish a presence in the Chilean market. These incentives will be discussed in detail during this years conference, but some of the more notable ones include subsidies for geothermal exploration, renewable energy project co-financing and renewable energy construction grants.
This annual conference is an internationally recognized event with participants from North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America. Attendees include investors, consultants, technology and service providers, project developers and representatives from public organizations.
Attendees will have the opportunity to establish partnerships for projects and explore new business opportunities related to clean energy in Chile. As previously noted, this year’s conference will be highlighted by an exhibition hall where companies from around the world will display new cutting edge technology in the renewable energy field. Additionally, there will be a seminar on “The Trends and Challenges for Developing NCRE in Emerging Markets” as well as an investment forum, which will be a meeting platform for investors and entrepreneurs interested in renewable energy projects in Chile.
The 5th International Conference on Renewable Energy Investments will be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Santiago on November 9-11. For more information please visit the conference website at http://www.chilerenewables.com

Clean Energy Investments are Highlighted as “High Priority” for the Chilean Government

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 14, 2010
For the fifth year in a row, the Chilean Ministry of Energy, the Economic Development Agency and the Center for Renewable Energy have made clean energy development a high priority for the country by holding the 5th International Conference on Renewable Energy Investments. Through this conference the government seeks to continue its initiative of becoming a global leader in renewable energy technology.
Chile’s vast amounts of renewable resources make it an ideal environment for investment in renewable energy. There are a broad range of opportunities in solar, wind, hydro-electric, biomass and geothermal sources. Furthermore, friendly trade and renewable energy laws make it attractive for foreign investors. For example, the government has loan programs and pre-investment study grants in place for potential investors. Additionally, the regulatory framework is also continuously improving, currently Chilean energy companies are required to include a minimum of 5% NCRE in the energy they trade, gradually increasing to 10% in 2024.
Accompanying the exceptional NCRE investment potential is Chile’s dynamic and growing economy, which makes it an excellent place to do business. It has recently been accepted to the OECD and Forbes magazine has ranked Chile as one of the top 25 countries in the world to do business. Additionally, foreign direct investment has increased substantially, according to the 2009 World Investment Report; FDI reached 59.6% of the Chilean GDP in 2008 as compared to the 24.5% world average.
