Former Riverside Mayor Ron Loveridge Talks About The Importance Of Cities Going Green

Former Riverside Mayor Ron Loveridge – City of Riverside, CA

Riverside, CA (PRWEB) February 15, 2013

After 32 years of public service, Loveridge recently retired from being mayor of a city that was once known for its “smog alerts” to a city that is now known as an Emerald City. In a recent interview with Energy Independence Magazine Loveridge said, “Riverside takes great pride in being one of the greenest cities in the country.”

Last year Riverside was a finalist in The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Business Civic Leadership Center and Siemens Corporations’ Sustainable Community Awards. The city’s Green Fleet was also named the “best” in North America at the fifth annual Government Green Fleet Awards and Expo. “We’ve come a long distance and have a way to go but I’ve often thought that Riverside needs to take leadership in being a green place.”

Incentives the city offers to support its green efforts include the WRCOG HERO program, a partnership between Western Riverside Council of Governments and renovate America, Inc. to provide low interest rate financing for a variety of energy and water efficient products and renewable energy systems. Riverside also offers incentives on electric cars. Loveridge says, “It used to be that electric vehicles were in the laboratory, now they’ve gone to the storefront and we’re trying to get them from the storefront to the streets. For plug-in vehicles we provide incentives of $ 2,500 if you buy your plug-in car from a Riverside dealer.”

Solar energy is another way Riverside has gone green and the mayor sees great potential in the labor market for installation of renewable energy, like solar panels. The city is home to Sullivan Solar, Inc., a solar system integrator and NECA contractor that has an office, and renewable energy center. The company worked closely with the IBEW to ensure; one that the solar energy systems are installed correctly by professional certified electricians, and two; that these electricians come from the local labor market to help boost the local economy.

One of California’s goals is to reduce the state carbon footprint by becoming more environmentally sound and preserving our natural resources. Going grid neutral isn’t a challenge, it’s an opportunity! It’s an opportunity to lock in electricity costs providing financial predictability saving millions, and if structured properly it can all be done with little or no capital costs.

East Bay Solar Heating Expert Green Air Heating & Air Conditioning Introduces Comerford Solar

Green Air Heating and Air Conditioning introduces its subsidiary, Comerford Solar.

Pacheco, CA (PRWEB) June 28, 2012

It is undeniable that most everyone is highly dependent on electricity, but this dependence does not mean that everyone needs to be dependent on utility companies. Nicholas Donzelli of Green Air Heating & Air Conditioning and Michael Comerford recently joined forces to create Comerford Solar, a company that provides green energy solutions to lessen a home’s dependence on utility companies.

“Nicholas and Michael bring the best of both worlds to a company; a company that is capable of keeping up with the advancements in technology while at the same time staying on top of the financing volatility of the market,” Chad Arifuku of Green Air Heating & Air Conditioning said. “Therefore, Comerford Solar always provides the best and latest services at the best and most affordable pricing for the Bay Area consumer.”

Comerfold Solar allows consumers to take control of their utility expenses with solar installations. By doing this, homeowners can not only lower or eliminate their electricity bill, their homes also increase in value. Furthermore, California solar rebates, Federal tax credits and other local incentives can pay for up to 45 percent of the total solar project cost.

The company is a green energy solution contractor for residential and commercial clients. As a diamond-certified solar installer with seasoned professionals, the company features the experience and knowledge-base to design an integrated system that works best for their clients’ specific needs and budgets.

“It is no surprise that utility rates increase, but at an average of 6.7 percent, that is a lot of compounding interest and not in favor of the consumer,” Arifuku said. “Once a consumer goes solar, that inflation rate goes away. Combined with the fact that Comerford Solar provides a 25-year production warranty across the board, including modules and inverters, it is no wonder more people are saying ‘Yes!’ to solar with Comerford Solar.”

For more information about Comerford Solar, view the company on the Web at comerfordsolar.com.

Rising Consumer Awareness on Environment Issues to Stimulate the Demand for Green Marketing, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.

San Jose, California (PRWEB) April 27, 2012

Follow us on LinkedIn – The bulging demand for eco-friendly products and the consequent buoyancy of green marketing concept in the modern era is primarily driven by rising consumer awareness about environment, regulatory pressure to adopt eco-friendly products and processes, and concerns about health and safety. Green marketing, also termed as ecological marketing, environmental marketing and eco-marketing, refers to the promotional activities aimed at transforming consumer perceptions about a brand. Rising awareness among general consumers about environmental degradation due to population explosion and unrestricted consumption of natural resources has led industries to adopt environmental ethics in their operations. The limited availability of natural resources implies that the corporate sector needs to focus on efficient utilization of such resources and minimize wastage, while placing emphasis on achieving business objectives, whereby the concept of green marketing has gained prominence. Companies developing novel and improvised services and products, while also caring for their environmental impact, can benefit through access to new markets, enhanced profitability and competitive edge over rivals.

Green marketing has proven to be a relatively recession-proof sector, with sustainable products continuing to register steady sales even during adverse conditions. This is attributed to the continuing adoption of green products and services among environmentally conscious consumers regardless of the economic scenario. The green marketing concept evolved more as a competition survival strategy and marketing tool for businesses and marketers during the recession period. This is attributed to the fact that green marketing emphasizes on avoiding wastage, make efficient use of available resources, and recycling. As a result, green marketing is finding high degree of acceptance among businesses with relatively tight marketing budgets. With consumer preferences skewing towards green products, several initiatives are being undertaken to promote green marketing. Internet is evolving as a popular medium for carrying out marketing of green messages, with print, television, mobile, and direct mail methods emerging as other popular approaches. Several online green shopping sites have emerged in recent years, providing assistance to web-savvy consumers in finding environment friendly products. Leading brands are orchestrating public relation partnerships and campaigns with eco-involved non-governmental organizations, such as Live Earth and World Wildlife Fund. In addition, retail displays and product packaging are using “green” ideas for proper visual communication.

Developed markets of Europe and North America continue to be traditional market leaders, capturing a substantial share of the world market, as stated by the new market research report on Green Marketing. In terms of highest growth potential, Asia-Pacific is projected to race ahead at the strongest CAGR of 22% over the analysis period. In the US and Europe, growing awareness about the environment is driving consumers to invest in energy efficient homes, fuel-efficient vehicles, and recycling. The green marketing concept is picking up rapidly in developing Asian economies such as India with increasing awareness among companies and consumers about environment friendly products. Companies are slowly adopting green technologies as part of social responsibility drive and as a marketing tool to gain competitive advantage. The recent years witnessed large hotel chains sporting eco-room concept with energy efficient bars, organic bed linens and recycled paper napkins. Banks are also catching up the green drive by offering green services such as paperless banking and energy efficient equipment at ATMs. Several companies are venturing into developing renewable energy sources of the country and are establishing units to manufacture solar, wind and biofuel equipment.

Key market participants profiled in the report include Canon Inc., Cereplast, Inc., Del Monte Foods, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Inc., Frito-Lay, General Electric Company, General Motors Company, Herman Miller Inc., Mary Kay, Inc., Nike, Inc., The Clorox Company, The Procter & Gamble Company, Toyota Motor Corporation, Unilever N.V and Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

The research report titled “Green Marketing: A Global Strategic Business Report” announced by Global Industry Analysts Inc., provides a comprehensive review of the potential for Green Marketing in different parts of the world, impact of recession, current market trends, key growth drivers, recent product introductions, recent industry activity, and profiles of major/niche global as well as regional market participants. The report provides annual revenue estimates and projections for Green Marketing for the years 2009 through 2017 for geographic markets including, the US, Canada, Japan, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Rest of World.

“Green Mountain Energy Company is especially proud to donate these funds towards a solar array system to the Green Outlook project at Riverside Park,” said Paul Markovich, president of residential services, Green Mountain Energy Company. “Green Mountain has been giving New Yorkers the choice of pollution-free electricity for their homes and offices since 2009. Donating funds towards solar installations like this one helps us give back to the communities where our customers live, work, shop and play, while supporting our mission to change the way power is made.”

Green Mountain is making this donation through its Green Mountain EnergyTM Sun ClubTM — a unique program in which Green Mountain’s customers can choose to support solar donations to worthy non-profits by contributing an additional five dollars on their monthly electricity bill. The mission of the Sun Club is to fund, build and promote solar power while assisting organizations with a socially responsible focus to reduce their environmental footprints. “We are very excited about being one of the first Sun Club projects in New York state and we are very grateful for Green Mountain’s generous financial support,” said McIntyre. “As a provider of clean energy, Green Mountain shares our values and goal of reducing our collective carbon footprint. Additionally, they have been a great partner as a sponsor of our free concerts in the park. I look forward to continuing to work with Green Mountain in the future — a green future.”

About the Green Outlook Project at Riverside Park

The Riverside Park Fund and the Riverside Clay Tennis Association (RCTA) have launched a $ 6 million capital campaign to transform an abandoned parking lot south of the 96th Street Red Clay Tennis Courts into a landscaped Hudson River overlook with a wildflower meadow, a sustainable park maintenance building and a carbon-neutral public restroom, using compost toilet technologies, green roofs, solar energy, rainwater and recycled materials. The Green Outlook is an off-grid, self-contained, sustainable complex that will serve thousands of bicyclists, joggers, strollers, picnickers and tennis players. It will:

Replace an abandoned asphalt parking lot with a native wildflower meadow
Create an overlook with stunning views of the Hudson River
Provide Riverside Park and Hudson River Greenway users with a public restroom that employs solar energy, composting toilets and a green roof
Include on-site waste treatment and use, and storm water management
Build a green maintenance facility for the busy red-clay tennis courts and surrounding parkland and gardens
    Be entirely carbon-neutral
Serve as a model for future park improvements

For over 25 years the RCTA has maintained the ten world-class public courts near 96th Street in Riverside Park, one of New York City’s eight officially designated scenic landmark parks. With your support, it can provide much needed facilities that will benefit all users of the Hudson River Greenway and become a beacon of sustainability for New York City and beyond. Riverside Park Fund is a 501(c)3, tax-exempt organization. All donations are tax deductible. For more information or to make a donation, please visit http://www.greenoutlook.info.
